Compassionate Care & Support through Life's Transitions

Path of the Heart is the journey of being with people...

Doula care is a kindness we give to others, fostering a sense that they truly feel seen, heard and understood...
Being present not only to share in your happiness and joy but to be there in your limitations, through difficult times; finding what is possible, empowering, caring, advocating, supporting all that needs to be seen and held, and responding with love… the path of conscious love brings wisdom to be there for others.

“The Doula walks alongside the family, opening their heart in service and compassion. Doulas do not judge feelings, responses or behaviour. Instead, by their actions and words, doulas convey their support, normalise feelings, model behaviour, or gently guide family into a deeper exploration of something they are struggling with.

As a result, and in ways that are often mysterious, the Doula opens the door to moments of understanding, appreciation, healing and even transformation”

— Henry Fersko-Weiss

In nature, nothing truly dies; instead, it transforms and leads to new beginnings. We each have our end of life, and we each come to it from a different place, whilst continuing to contribute to life cycle and leaving a legacy that transcends physical presence.

Dying can be a complex path for those who have not been there. A Doula brings a wealth of experience and wisdom to help you embrace vulnerabilities and fear, empower people living with life-limiting illness, bridging the gap with continuity of care, emotional and spiritual support to ensure better quality of life and a more comfortable, peaceful and graceful transition for the dying person, and their families.

Offerings

End of Life Doula Services Canterbury

A doula is an experienced, trained professional who understands dying and is empowered to support you with continuity of care through the many stages of this most significant and fragile time in your life.

Feeling more at ease with end of life starts with being prepared, as well as having the support you need to ensure a more positive passing for your loved ones.

Elder Caregiving & Companioning

Person-centred care is now recognised as a key element of quality of life for the elderly.

Knowing that your loved one is supported in doing what brings them joy, involved in making choices for their health and well-being whilst maintaining independence, can bring immense peace of mind to the individual and their family, especially if living at a distance. Knowing that your person feels loved and cared for, can make all the difference.

Jin Shin Jyutsu

When our vital lifeforce is strong we are free from dis-ease, pain and fatigue. We can face life challenges, and remain physically, mentally and emotionally intact. However, we live in a complex world and our senses are constantly being bombarded, causing tension, stress and ultimately leading to ill-health.

Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ) is a simple, effective and highly-evolved form of acupressure that harmonise the body, mind and spiritual being, helping to stabilise and restore balance to body systems, through all ages and phases of life.

For those living with life-limiting illness or at end of life, the effects of Jin Shin Jyutsu gentle healing touch can be profound.

We  offer a variety of community talks and workshops in Christchurch NZ, designed to support people with living well, ageing and also approaching the end of life with greater ease, awareness, and dignity.
